Pretty in Plaid

Life has been kicking my ass, in more ways than one, hence why there were no new blog posts last week. I needed time to recuperate, to cry, and take a lot of hot baths. Before we get into this incredible outfit that I'm wearing, I wanted to talk more about my experience so far with Talkspace, which, if you didn't know, is a platform for online therapy. This blog post isn't sponsored by them. This is just a company that I truly believe in. I've talked about it briefly in my previous blog posts such as Why I Overdress and my October Rewind. Deciding to go back to therapy wasn't an easy conclusion for me to come to. I'm a strong believer in the idea that you can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves and for a long time, I was more comfortable complaining about how hard life was and how I needed help rather than actually doing something about it.

I knew that I wanted to go back to therapy and that I needed to, but finding a therapist that was a good fit for me and my busy schedule wasn't easy. So I decided to give Talkspace a try and so far my experience has been nothing but positive. I can message my therapist whenever I want. There's no set schedule and I can reply to her whenever I have time to. One of the things I love most about Talkspace is that I have access to unlimited messaging. I like being able to process what I'm thinking and how I feel as well as what my therapist is saying. While I'm not yet where I want to be, I can already see the progress I've made. As I mentioned, life has been kicking my ass in more ways than one a feeling that I'm unfortunately all too familiar with. Usually, I would crumble under these circumstances, my anxiety would spike, and my depression would set in. While I'm not jumping for joy, I'm doing better than I usually would. I know that eventually, I'll be okay - more than okay. Baby steps.

Now onto this outfit. As I mentioned in my blog post Why I Overdress, I like to compensate for my shitty circumstances with a kickass outfit like this Plus Size Plaid Boyfriend Blazer and matching Plus Size Plaid Trousers from Charlotte Russe. I dressed up this outfit by pairing it with this Forever 21 Plus Size V-Wire Bodysuit and a pair of Ema High Block Heel Pumps from A New Day. For accessories, I kept it simple, as I always do, by wearing a pair of drop earrings from Bauble Bar. On my lips, I combined two of my favorite lip colors from Fenty Beauty: he Stunna Lip Paint in Unbutton and their Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow
