Three Month Rewind
it’s been about three months…
since I published my last blog post Wild Thing. Typically this is the part where I would ramble on and on about where I’ve been and how I took a break from blogging to work on myself, but thanks to therapy, I no longer feel the need to explain myself. I thought what better blog post to do than a three month recap of what I wore, what I bought, who I listened to, what I ate and drank, what I read, what I downloaded, and who I followed. So, what have I been up to these past three months? Keep reading to find out.
I started out 2019 by taking a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada for the new year. I won $50 when we first got there and didn’t win anything else after that. I ate the famous beef wellington and toffee pudding at Gordon Ramsey’s Pub & Grill. I ate Shake Shack for the first time. I got a new car. It’s a 2018 Kia Soul. My team Boom! Roasted! and I won first place at The Office trivia night hosted by the Channel Brewing Co. I published one of my favorite blog posts that I’ve ever created My Mother’s Chanel Bag. I got free pasookies with Madison at BJ’s Restauraunt & Brewhouse. I started getting my Brazillian waxes again and I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time and it was free! I won this year’s Royal Rumble. I got a hair treatment at UNIQO. I got a pap smear and I got tested. Everything came back negative! I saw Panic! at the Disco live in concert with my brother Aarron in February and I went back to school to get my Associate Teacher Child Permit.
What I Wore
I’ve been wearing a lot of leopard print like my Influence Plus Satin Leopard Print Mini Skirt with Slits from ASOS Curve, my favorite everyday rings from ASOS Curve, my ASOS Design Wide Fit Ludo Ballet Flats Loafers, my Calvin Klein Monogram Bras and Monogram Bikini Sets, my Nike Air Max Axis Sneakers, and my Sincerely Jules by Scünci Turban Headband from Target.
What I Bought
I have accumulated a lot of skincare products this year and we’re only three months into 2019. I tried out the Olay Mist Ultimate Hydration Essence. I used it before I applied my makeup and as my setting spray. My favorite way to use this product is before I apply my moisturizer at night. It adds an extra layer of hydration that my skin very much appreciates. I also bought The Ordinary Hylaronic Acid 2% + B5 after hearing one of my favorite bloggers rave about it. I’ve always heard that hylaoronic acid does wonders for your skin especially if you’re an oily skin gal like me. I haven’t decided how I feel about this product yet, but keep an eye out on my Instagram Stories as I’m sure I’ll be sharing my thoughts on it there. Of course I can’t ramble on about skincare without mentioning one of my favorite new skincare brands Fourth Ray Beauty. I’ll be doing a haul on some products I recently purchased as well as sharing some of my favorite products from their range so stay tuned for that! Lastly, I finally purchased a diffuser and a pack of essential oils for health reasons and I really enjoy it. I feel like it helps keep the air in my room clean and it’s great to put on at night to wind down or in the morning when I wake up.
Who I Listened To
What I Ate and Drank
I’m not exaggerating when I say that I had one of the best meals of my life while I was in Las Vegas. We ate at Gordon Ramsey’s Pub & Grill in Caesar’s Palace. Prior to our meal, I had a delicious strawberry beer that I have been on the hunt for ever since. For my main course I ordered the famous beef wellington and for dessert I shared a toffee pudding topped with vanilla ice cream with my brother. One of my favorite drinks right now are lavender iced chais from Chit Chat Café and Bakery which is one of the local cafés in my hometown. I’ve always been a fan of iced chais often times with vanilla mixed in, but lavender tastes even better to me. If I could have one everyday, I would.
What I Read
As I’ve talked about previously here on my blog and on social media, I am currently in therapy. I have been using Talkspace since October of last year. Something I’ve been working on currently is understanding my attachment style and how it affects the relationships in my life. My therapist recommended that I read Insecure in Love: How Anxious Attachment Can Make You Feel Jealous, Needy, and Worried and What You Can Do About It by Becker-Phelps PhD, Leslie. I’m currently still in the process of reading it, but it has made such a difference in my life and in helping me become more self-aware and secure within myself and my relationships.
What I Downloaded
If you’ve ever wondered what I use to edit my Instagram Stories or Snapchats, you no longer have to wonder because I use the Storyluxe app. I can’t remember how or when I came across this app, I’m just happy I did. My favorite edits to use are kodak and instant.
Who I FollowED
I've decided to add a new section in my monthly rewinds which is who I’m following. I wanted to introduce this new section by featuring two women whom I follow religiously. First up is plus size style, lifestyle blogger, freelance writer, and fat acceptance advocate Stephanie Yeboah ‘AKA’ Nerd About Town. This woman truly inspires me not only as a blogger or with her style, but in everything she does. There isn’t anything that she posts that I’m not obsessing over. Another woman that inspires me is artist and professional makeup artist Bex ‘AKA’ The Anti-MUA. This woman is so incredibly talented in her artistry and I am in awe of her. She’s also the one who drew that adorable photo of me that I posted in my 2018 Rewind and she also did my new logo on my blog. We stan.
